ChatGPT now works with Bing
Microsoft announced on the 18th that Bing will be available as the default search engine for AI language model “ChatGPT”.
Users of the paid version “ChatGPT Plus” can add Bing search by activating the plug-in from the same day. Users of ChatGPT’s free service will soon be able to do the same.

ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI in the United States, is an interactive AI (artificial intelligence) designed to answer user questions as if it were a conversation with a human being. It has a wide range of uses, including content creation, report creation, and code design, but there are also many concerns such as privacy and copyright infringement.
Until now, ChatGPT was only built with data up to September 2021 and did not have access to the internet to use the latest information. Going forward, it will incorporate search data and web data, including citations. It will be possible to answer user questions from a richer source of information.
Yusuf Mehdi, a consumer marketing officer at Microsoft, said:

ChatGPT will now include a web-accessible search engine that provides timely and up-to-date answers. This will allow ChatGPT responses to include citations based on search and web data. Users will be able to get more information in chat.

Also, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said at the Build conference in Seattle, “This is part of our plan with our partners at OpenAI to bring the best Bing experience to ChatGPT.”
Going forward, it was also announced that Microsoft will work with OpenAI to expand the AI ​​plugin ecosystem and develop a shared plugin platform to support interoperability. The platform will allow developers to create plugins to various Microsoft and OpenAI platforms such as Bing, ChatGPT and Windows Copilot to easily build new features and services.

These efforts are the latest collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft, which is driving the generative AI boom. Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood said on an analyst conference call in February that every 1 percent increase in search ad share would generate an additional $2 billion in revenue. According to data compiled by Statista, Microsoft Bing had a 9% global share of the desktop search market in December 2022, while Google had an 86% share.
